FAQ: Which scooter should I buy? How do I choose? August 27, 2009

From 49 to 850 cc, there are almost 450 models of scooters available on the market.
When choosing your scooter, you should put a few tips in consideration:
Make sure that the scooter is feasible for your lifestyle. If you use your scooter simply to ride to work and back, a small scooter with a 49 cc engine is probably all you need. If you are thinking about taking your scooter on the highways and travel within cities, you should probably be looking into getting a bigger size scooter with 150 cc engine and higher for which you need a class 6 license.
Check to be sure the handlebar extends comfortably to the height you need, and that the deck is comfortable to ride on. Take the scooter for a test-drive to see how the whole thing works. You should feel like you can adequately stop and start the scooter.
Obviously you want to spend as little as possible without losing quality. For this you may want to go with a brand name like Hyosung. They offer quality scooters while maintaining a decent price tag.
