FAQ: What are the benefits of riding a scooter? August 10, 2009

There are multiple benefits to riding a scooter. The first and most important is they are a lot of fun! Nothing compares to the freedom of being able to just jump on a scooter and motor around in tight places while going for lunch and coffee. It’s like riding a bike without the work or having to jump in a car.
The second benefit is economy. This is why many people ride motorcycles. While most scooters are not prepared for long trips on highway speeds, if you just want to get around town nothing beats their fuel costs. You can also save on parking and get into places where cars can’t. Most scooters have built in storage and can also be fitted with a travel pod for groceries or other supplies which combines general uses and life.
The last benefit is community. Scooter riders, and riders in general, like to stick together. Where typically car drivers can be pretty nasty to each other, scooter rides generally follow a social code of mutual recognition. It’s a great way to meet new people and enjoy social interaction.
If you are thinking of purchasing or riding a scooter we always suggest getting a demo from professionals. Most accidents happen because of lack of education from scooter riders who haven’t really trained others, trying to teach new riders. Professional dealers and shops know what to look for in new riders and are always about safety because their industry reputations are on the line.
Please feel free to find the local Scooter Challenge chapter in your area and contact them about a scooter demo.
